Homeless shelter in Prince William closed for repairs
This is a release from the ACTS homeless shelter in Prince William County:
Last night ACTS Emergency Homeless Shelter suffered major water damage and had to be closed until repairs are done. Staff pulled together throughout the night to find alternative temporary housing arrangements for the 22 residents. They did a great job ensuring that the families were re-housed and important items relocated to safe dry places. Many thanks to the county staff from the fire department, inspector’s office and town of Dumfries who provided excellent support.
Based on information we have right now, the sprinkler system upstairs malfunctioned and caused the damage. At this time, we are not able to totally assess the damage or our long-term needs for donations. We appreciate the community’s support and concern and will provide periodic updates as we work together to house our neighbors in need. We anticipate being able to complete repairs
and be up and running as soon as possible.
