Decanstructing the sculptures from last weekend
Katie Thisdell reported on this year’s Canstruction event, where area teams created sculptures made entirely of nonperishable foods. Monday night, volunteers from the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank took those sculptures apart and loaded all of the food onto their truck. Those cans are now on the food bank’s shelves and ready to feed the hungry people in the Fredericksburg area. The food bank and its member agencies usually feed more than 17,000 area residents each month.
And it’s not too early to start planning for next year’s event. If you are interested in participating in next year’s Canstruction, contact Dayna Klein, Marketing and Major Gifts Coordinator, 540-371-7666, ext. 131 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
