Social workers collecting money for cribs

The Fredericksburg Department of Social Services is collecting money to buy portable cribs for Project Manger. A donation of $60 can buy a new pack and play for a family in need.

The department can’t accept used cribs.

The effort is part of the department’s Safe Sleep Campaign, which kicked off in October and educates parents about the risks of sleeping with their babies.

Social workers sometimes find parents and caregivers who don’t have a safe place to sleep. So far, social workers have given away 10 portable cribs to parents in need.

A donation of $60 could provide a crib for a family who needs a safe place for a baby to sleep.

To help, get in touch with the department of social services at 540/372-1032, ext. 247. Or drop off donations at the department’s office at 608 Jackson St.
