Help provide turkey dinners for those in need

King George County’s Department of Social Services needs help providing Thanksgiving dinner for families in need.

Donations can be dropped off at the King George YMCA through Monday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. Requested items are: turkeys, stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy and cranberry sauce.

Call the YMCA at 540/775-9622 with questions.

The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank is also collecting turkeys to give to area families in need. The food bank has about 1,400 turkeys, which is 40 percent of its goal. Turkeys can be donated to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank every Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, November 3rd from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
