Bell ringers needed

As Rob Hedelt reported earlier this week, the Salvation Army hopes to help 1,787 people this holiday season. To do that, they need help. The holidays are coming up, and the Salvation Army needs people to man their trademark red kettles throughout the area. Want to volunteer? Click here or call 540/373-3431.

The local Salvation Army is also planning its first ever Kettle Cook Off, which will feature “kettle meals” from area restaurants: Castiglia’s Italian Restaurant& Pizzeria, Firebird’s Wood Fired Grill, Fredericksburg Hospitality House, Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille, The Happy Clam, La Rosetta Ristorante, Miso, Pancho Villa Express, Pancho Villa Mexican Restaurant and Wegman’s.

Tickets will cost $10; children under 5 will be free. The event will be held Nov. 17, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Village Greens of Spotsylvania Towne Center.
