Dancing zombies feed the hungry

“It’s close to midnight..”

Darkness falls across the land

The midnight hour is close at hand

Creatures crawl in search of blood

To terrorize y’alls neighborhood

Who else remembers when “Thriller” debuted on MTV? One of my earliest memories involves begging my mom to be allowed to watch the music video.

This weekend, the song will be used to set a record–and to collect food for the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank.

The Thrill the World dance and food drive will be held at the Spostylvania Town Center on Saturday, 3 p.m., in front of Sephora.
Thrill The World is an annual worldwide attempt to break the world record for the Largest Simultaneous Dance with Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Thousands of Funky Zombies in cities around the world will learn “Thriller,” dance and perform it together on the day that Thrill The World takes place.
Joel and Valerie Webber, who teach swing dance on Sunday nights at Picker’s Concert Hall on Caroline Street, are organizing the local Thrill The World event. For two months, the pair taught the Thriller dance to interested area residents. Participants brought canned food to the free classes.
Valerie Webber said:
“Thrill the World is a way to bring people together while having fun, getting some exercise, and enjoying good music. You don’t even have to be a great dancer: zombies are not exactly known for their dancing skills.”
