It’s already turkey time

If you’re like me, you haven’t bought your Halloween candy yet. But the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank is already stocking up for Thanksgiving. Last year, the agency gave out 3,200 turkeys over the holiday season. This year, agency staff hope to give away 3,400 turkeys to area residents who would otherwise go without a holiday meal.

So even if you haven’t snagged a bag of candy corn yet, you can still donate a turkey for someone in need. Turkeys can be donated to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank every Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Want to help without leaving home? You can mail a check to:   Box 1006, Fredericksburg, Va. 22402 or click here to donate to the turkey drive.
