Healthy Families – Rappahannock Area Moves
Healthy Families – Rappahannock Area has consolidated its staff into one, central office in the Bowman Center according to a press release from the Rappahannock Community Services Board (RACSB).
Founded in 1997, Healthy Families – Rappahannock Area’s goal is to reduce child maltreatment and increase school readiness by building healthier families, healthier children and a healthier community.
They do this by providing intensive home-based services designed to assist parents in providing a nurturing and supportive environment for their child. Their family support staff work with parents on importance of bonding, child development, and positive discipline
Services are provided to eligible first-time parents residing in the city of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford.
The program assisted 476 families in Fiscal Year 2012.
The organization was previously located at the RACSB Charles A. Cooper Building in Stafford County and A Woman’s Place in Fredericksburg.
Program Manager Michele Powell said in the release, “In the past year, we have doubled the number of Healthy Families staff. Due to office space constraints, staff members were divided at two separate locations. I’m happy to have everyone together under one roof that is central to our service area.”
