Making holidays bright

The Salvation Army hopes to help nearly 2,000 area residents this Christmas. But time is drawing short, and they still need a lot of help. The local corps planned to help 1,710 children; 130 senior citizens and 21 residents with disabilities.

But many angels remain on area trees. Each angel has a name and a small wishlist. Donors should pick the angel, shop off the wishlist and return the gifts.

Tree locations include area Walmart stores, Spotsylvania Towne Centre, all Giant locations, Goolrick’s downtown, Walgreens in Harrison Crossing and Hobby Lobby in Central Park,, as well as Salvation Army office, 2012 Lafayette Blvd.

Gifts will need to be turned in, most often to the stores where the trees are located, by Dec. 16.
