Holiday Helping

A Stafford County nonprofit hopes to help area residents have a happy holiday, even while they’re struggling. SERVE, which operates a food pantry and emergency financial aid, wants to give food and gifts to those in need. SERVE is looking for $10 gift cards to grocery stores, gift cards for teens or other gifts for those older kids. SERVE Director Marilyn Stevens said that many clients get gifts through for Toys for Tots, but teenagers are left out.

“They need something for Christmas too,” Stevens said.

The agency can also use donations of food and money. Recently, SERVE had to stop giving financial help because all of its money is going toward buying food. The agency has just seen record numbers of people coming for help these days.
To help, call 540/288-9603 or drop gifts or donations at SERVE, 15 Upton Lane in Stafford.
