Money available for groups that feed, shelter
Local agencies can now apply for money to help feed and shelter needy residents. The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program recently awarded $11,996 to the area.
A local board with representatives from Fredericksburg and the five surrounding counties will decide how to distribute the money locally.
Groups applying for the money should be a nonprofit or government agency, have an accounting system, and shown an ability to feed or shelter people. If the group is a nonprofit, it must have a board.
The deadline to apply is Aug. 2.
