School Dressing Days
The annual effort to clothe needy children is gearing up. And organizers need your help.
School Dressing Days needs donations of new jeans, shoes, underwear and other clothes appropriate for school. Items may be dropped off at the Bragg Hill Family Life Center August 2 through 12, 9 a.m. to noon. Donors may also bring checks, made out to Interfaith Community Council with School Dressing Days in the memo line. Checks can also be mailed to: Interfaith Community Council; 1111 Colony Road; Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.
The event will be held at the Bragg Hill Family Life Center, 400 Bragg Hill Drive, Fredericksburg, on Saturday, August 13, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Monday, August 15, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Tuesday, August 16, 9 a.m. to noon, or until supplies are gone.
Families from Fredericksburg as well as the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George and Caroline are eligible to participate. All children from kindergarten through high school will receive school clothing and supplies at no cost. Children must bring IDs, such as report cards, SS cards, or Medicaid cards; and they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Adults must bring verification of residence (no P.O. boxes).
Children do not have to come, as long as parents have ID for each child.
Volunteers are needed, especially for setup on August 12 and for all three Dressing Days, starting at 9 a.m. Volunteers who speak languages such as Spanish or Swahili are especially needed.
