Holiday Help: Feeding the Hungry
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you’re enjoying a good meal with family and friends.
Because food is so integral to today’s holiday, I thought I’d feature holiday helping opportunities about food:
SERVE in Stafford hopes to create Christmas food boxes for clients. The agency needs: turkeys, nonperishable food and $10 gift cards to grocery stores. Drop off donations at SERVE, 15 Upton Lane in Stafford. 540/288-9603
Thurman Brisben Center, the area’s homeless shelter, needs food for its residents. Staff members especially want: cereal and canned foods. Drop donations off to the shelter, 471 Central Rd. in Fredericksburg. 540/899-9853.
The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank will continue to feed hungry residents throughout the holiday season. Drop food off at the food bank’s warehouse, 3631 Lee Hill Drive in Spotsylvania. Drop off times: Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Wednesday, open until 6 p.m. 540/371-7666.
And enjoy your holiday!
