Holiday Help: Stafford County

The holidays are coming up fast, and this month, I’m telling you about opportunities to help others in our area this season. If you want a comprehensive list all at once, check out Rappahannock United Way’s holiday opportunities guide.

Today’s opportunity is the Stafford County Department of Social Services. The department hopes to help Stafford children have a brighter holiday season.

To help, you can call and sponsor a family or drop off unwrapped presents. Call 540/658- 8732 to sponsor a family. The  department will also accept  presents, money or gift cards  at its office at 1300 Court house Road on weekdays,   9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also, the Chick-fil-A on Garrisonville Road in Stafford is partnering with this effort. Stop by the restaurant and pick a cow ornament off the tree. On the back of the ornament, a sticker will tell you the wish of one needy Stafford County child. Buy the gift and bring it back to that Chic-fil-A and get a free chicken sandwich.
