Holiday Help: City Social Services

It’s almost Thanksgiving. Got your feast ready? I’m supposed to bring dessert to our family party, and if you have any great recipes, please pass them on.

But Thanksgiving being so close means the holidays are right behind. I know this will be a busy time for me, getting the holidays ready for my husband and two sons. But I also know this time will be hard on many area residents who need help. Want to make their holidays a little bit brighter? This month, I’m giving you a chance to help every day. Want the list all at once? Check out the Rappahannock United Way’s holiday opportunities guide.

Today’s opportunity: The City of Fredericksburg’s Department of Social Services. Each year, the department helps city children ages 3-12 have a happy holiday season in the midst of their families’ financial struggles. You can help by sponsoring a child or by donating gifts for children.  To help, email or call 540/372-1032, ext. 249.
