Holiday Help: Chaplin Youth Center
The holidays are coming! And while, for most of us, this involves shopping, decorating and cooking, for many area residents this season is not so festive. Some area residents struggle through difficult situations. Area nonprofit groups step in to help for the holidays, but they can’t do it without a hand from you. Want to help? This month, I’m including an opportunity to help every day. Want the list all at once? Check out the Rappahannock United Way’s holiday opportunities guide.
Today’s chance to help comes from the Chaplin Youth Center, which helps local teens facing legal or family troubles. Holiday items will be given to the youth living at the center’s group homes.
Chaplin’s wish list includes (all geared toward older teen boys and girls):
- Gloves and scarves
- Board games
- Card games
- Craft supplies
- Bath/hygiene items
- Medium, large or extra large sweat suit sets
- Hand held games
- School supplies for high school
- New or used DVDs (rated PG 13 and below)
- Gift cards
