Concert to Help Food Bank
Two local musicians hope to collect food for the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank.
On Wednesday, Nov. 24, Mike Mess (Mic Mess) and Jean Mathurin (DJ Incredible) will host an event at Central Station in downtown Fredericksburg. The event will include live DJ’s, and a performance by Mic Mess.
Meeting with food bank staff, Mess and Mathurin learned that more 3,000 families in the area could go hungry during Thanksgiving. So they partnered with Sports Zone in Central Park and Massaponnax. Tickets will be on sale at both locations, and food bins will be set up for donations. Tickets are $15 but will be $10 with a donation of two canned goods.
Want to do more to help area families enjoy Thanksgiving? The food bank is in the midst of its local turkey drive. This year, staff members hope to collect 4,000 turkeys.
Donations of turkeys or other food items can be delivered to the food bank’s warehouse located at 3631 Lee Hill Drive in Spotsylvania.
The food bank is open to accept donations Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Wednesday until 6 p.m.
Check out the food bank’s site for more details or call 540/371-7666.
