Holiday Help: Hope House
The holidays are coming, and many people won’t be able to celebrate. They’re struggling just to get by. Want to help? For a month, the Doing Good blog will feature opportunities to reach out to people in need this holiday season. Want a comprehensive list? Check out the Rappahannock United Way’s holiday opportunity guide.
Hope House is the area’s transitional homeless shelter for women and children. For the holidays, area residents can adopt a Hope House family to help. To sponsor a family, call Anita Downey, 540/371-0831 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The holiday season also provides a chance to help with Hope House’s annual fundraiser, the Festival of Trees. This year’s festival will be at the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center through Nov. 20.
The event features 64 Christmas trees on display, decorated by various artists and groups. They can be viewed daily, noon-5 p.m. The event costs $7, and proceeds benefit Hope House.
