Stay Warm This Winter

Winter is coming. I’ve been getting out my sweaters, checking to see if my sons managed to not lose any winter hats and gloves, and have had my furnace tuned. I hate to be cold, and I’m not taking any chances. But for many, staying warm is a luxury.

Virginia Department of Social Services has started its annual Fuel Assistance Program which helps people pay for heating costs.

To qualify for Fuel Assistance, a one-person household’s maximum gross monthly income cannot exceed $1,174.00. For a household of four, the maximum gross monthly income level is $2,389.00.

While called Fuel Assistance, the program assists with various types of energy sources, including electricity, natural and liquid propane gas, oil, kerosene, coal and wood.
