Apply for Holiday Help in Stafford
Just a reminder: Next week is the time to register if you need holiday assistance and if you live in Stafford County.
The Stafford County Department of Social Services will not mail applications for its Thanksgiving and Christmas as sistance programs. This is a change from previous years.
Clients should register Oct. 11–15 in the former rescue squad building across the parking lot from the Department of Social Services. Stafford residents receiving TANF or food stamps are eligible for help if their benefits are current and active.
During the registration week, people whose last names start with A through M should apply between 9 and 11:30 a.m. Those whose last names start with N through Z should apply between 12:30 and 3 p.m.
Applicants must bring a photo ID and complete forms on site. Elderly clients may send a representative, if that person has a photo ID, the client’s photo ID and a note giving permission to apply.
The holiday assistance program is completely funded by donations and is not guaranteed. For details, call 540/658-8720.
