Art Event to Help Teen Parents

Tickets are now available for WINGS‘ Annual Girls Night Out, October 19, 2010, 6:30 p.m., at the Fredericksburg Country Club. All proceeds will benefit the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board’s Program for Teen Parents.

This year’s event, “Autumn, Art and Appletinis,” will highlight local artist Betsy Glassie, who will present “Art and Inspiration.”

The evening will include the auction of a Betsy Glassie painting. The artist’s work may be seen  at the LibertyTown Arts Center, Fredericksburg, or online.

In addition to the auction, the evening will feature appletini cocktails; dinner; and the  annual raffle, which will include WINGS’ signature Girls Night Out basket of assorted libations and other festive selections.

All proceeds will be donated to the Childcare Assistance Fund of RACSB’s Program for Teen Parents, which helps teens through their pregnancy and until their child turns 3. RACSB’s Parent Educator Joan Gillis will accept WINGS’ donation and explain how the program works in the Spotsylvania County schools to educate and support pregnant and parenting teens and facilitate healthy pregnancies, healthy babies and positive nurturing relationships. The program’s Childcare Assistance Fund helps to cover the costs of day care so teen parents can  graduate from high school.

Girls Night Out costs $50 per person. Tables for eight may be reserved. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. For reservations,  send checks by Oct. 13 to WINGS, P.O. Box 3084, Fredericksburg, VA 22402. For details, call 540/207-7630.
