Question of the Day
Today, we ran a story about a Fredericksburg lawyer collecting suitcases for kids in foster care. All day, I’ve received calls and emails asking for his contact info, so here it is: Thomas Savage, 540/373-4922.
On a personal note: I’m so glad that so many of you are interested in this project. One of the most remarkable parts of my job has been the opportunity to meet dozens of kids in foster care. They are remarkably low-key about toting their stuff in trash bags. Most tell me they’ve definitely done it, but it’s not a big deal.
But social workers tell me it sends the message that their belongings are worthless and so are the kids themselves. So I can only imagine the message sent by a brand-new set of luggage. So thank you to all who’ve taken an interest.
Savage is also collecting toiletries, by the way.
