Generosity for Haiti
The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports that donations to Haiti relief are running faster than donations to the tsunami but more slowly than those for Hurricane Katrina. In one week, U.S. aid groups received more than $275 million. From the story: By Tuesday, the American Red Cross had received more than $24-million through its campaign to encourage $10 gifts through texts.
That’s a record for the group in terms of text messages. In contrast, it raised $200,000 from texts during the 2008 hurricane season.
