Advocates have declared tomorrow–Sept. 10–poverty day. The American Communities Survey releases its 2008 data on poverty tomorrow. And, not surprisingly, numbers are expected to rise. Final numbers come out tomorrow, but Becky Blank, undersecretary of economic affairs at the Commerce Department has predicted 1.5 million more poor people. She also predicts more people without jobs and, consequently, without health insurance. Stay tuned for more numbers tomorrow.
