Preventing Child Abuse
April is Child Abuse Prevention month, and this year’s symbol is the pinwheel. The Rappahannock Area Blue Ribbon Coalition will celebrate with a pinwheel garden this month. They will plant 1,200 pinwheels–each one will represent 100 children served by area nonprofits.
Want to check out the garden? A kickoff ceremony will be held Sunday, 4 p.m. at the Rappahannock United Way (in front of Shannon Airport off State Route 2).
For additional information, contact Teresa Irvine at the Rappahannock Area Council for Children and Parents at 540-785-6217 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Want to make your own pinwheels? Check out this PDF courtesy of the Virginia Department of Social Services. And check back throughout the month for more facts about child abuse.
