Alex Ovechkin Named Finalist For Hart Trophy
The Capitals’ right wing remained in contention to win yet another trophy on Friday when the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association announced he will be a finalist for the prestigious award.

ARLINGTON – Alex Ovechkin was announced Friday morning as a finalist for the Hart Trophy, which is given by the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association to the to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team.
The Capitals winger joined XXXX and XXX as finalists for the award. He led the league with 32 goals during the 48-game season, and he had a league-high 16 power play goals and tied for third with 56 points.
Ovechkin captured the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy two weeks ago for scoring the most goals in the league, and on Thursday he was named a finalist for the Ted Lindsay Award, which is given to the most outstanding player as judged by the players.
Should Ovechkin win the award, it would mark his third time doing so. He also won the Hart Trophy following the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.
