WIZARDS: Record Losing Streak Ends With Victory Over Trail Blazers
Jordan Crawford scored 17 points and the Washington Wizards won their first game of the season, snapping a franchise-record 12-game losing streak in defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 84-82 at Verizon Center on Wednesday.
Washington (1-12) led by 15 early in the fourth quarter, but stayed within striking distance despite a nearly eight-minute scoreless drought that saw Portland (6-9) take the lead. Emeka Okafor made two free throws with 39.1 seconds left for the two-point advantage, though J.J. Hickson missed a jumper with 2.8 seconds remaining.
Kevin Seraphin had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Trevor Ariza had 14 points for the Wizards, while rookie guard Damian Lillard and Nicolas Batum each had 20 points for Portland.
