Daily Crime Report 6/5/2014

Recent police reports and arrests in Fredericksburg:

BRANDISHING:

200 block Duke St, 6/4 6:15 p.m.  Police responded for reports of a male subject armed with a gun and behaving erratically.  An officer located the subject walking on Airport Avenue.  When told to stop, the suspect dropped two duffel bags he was carrying, ran from the officer and jumped over a fence into a yard on South Street before being taken into custody.   The suspect’s firearm was found in the yard after the arrest.  It was later learned that the suspect had brandished the weapon at a resident on Duke Street prior to police arrival.  Daniel Simpson, 33, of no fixed address was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, brandishing a firearm, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Simpson was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

UPDATE TO LARCENY:

The suspect involved in the larceny of cash from the safe at IHOP on May 25 has been identified and he was taken into custody on June 3.  Todd Houck, 35, of Spotsylvania is charged with grand larceny and breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony.

LARCENY:

1300 block Kenmore Ave, 6/3 – 6/4 4:00 p.m.  A resident reported that an unknown person stole the door knocker from her front door.  No suspects or witnesses at this time.

3100 block Murrells Way, 6/1 – 6/4 4:00 p.m.  A resident reported that an unknown person stole prescription medication from her apartment.  No suspects or witnesses at this time.

COUNTERFEITING:

Exxon, 3201 Plank Rd, 6/4 4:15 p.m.  An employee reported that an unknown male subject paid for gas using $20 bills that were later determined to be fake.  The investigation is ongoing.

ARRESTS:

Matthew Strong, 45, of no fixed address was arrested for public intoxication.

Monica Bingham, 52, of no fixed address was arrested on a warrant from Richmond charging her with failure to appear in court.

Trevor Leary, 26, of Newport News was arrested for felony shoplifting from Home Depot.

Timothy Weisenberger, 38, of Spotsylvania was arrested for public intoxication.
