City man shows character and returns a windfall
C.S. Lewis said, “Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.”
When 23-year-old Jacob Kroko found an envelope containing $1000 in the parking lot at Walmart around 9 p.m. last night, nobody would have known if he had stuffed the cash in his pocket and went on his way. Instead, Jacob went straight to the customer service desk to turn the money in.
Officer Jenn Moore was already inside the store handling an unrelated shoplifting report, and she collected the envelope full of cash to store as found property.
About an hour after Jacob found the cash and turned it in, another young man called Walmart and asked if anyone might have found his missing money. He was able to verify the amount and the denominations of the bills, as well as the time stamp on the bank receipt that was inside the envelope. Officer Moore was happy to return the cash to its rightful owner.
Thank you to Mr. Kroko for doing the right thing!
