Daily Crime Report 2/5/2014

Recent police reports and arrests in Fredericksburg:


300 block Central Rd, 1/04 – 2/3 6:30 a.m.  A foreman reported that an unknown person stole a construction trailer.  The investigation is ongoing.

Super 8 Motel, 3002 Mall Ct, 2/4 6:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.  A guest reported that an unknown person stole a computer tablet from his room.  The investigation is ongoing.

Walmart, 1800 Carl D Silver Pkwy, 2/4 11:55 p.m.  A customer reported that an unknown person stole items from the center console of her unlocked vehicle.  No suspects or witnesses at this time.    


3300 block Fall Hill Ave, 2/4 2:00 p.m.  A juvenile reported that a red minivan passed her on the left and struck her vehicle while she was stopped at the light at Wicklow Drive.  The driver of the minivan then left the scene at a high rate of speed.  A short time later, a police lieutenant saw the minivan being driven recklessly on Fall Hill Avenue and crossing Route 1.  As officers attempted to catch up to the minivan, the van crashed and came to a stop on Lafayette Boulevard near the National Park Visitor Center after causing significant damage to the guard rail and a sign belonging to the Park Service.  The driver of the minivan fled on foot but was located and taken into custody by Auxiliary Officer Patrick Swartz near the intersection of Belman Road and the Blue Grey Parkway.   Officer Swartz was assisted by Fredericksburg Sheriff’s Deputies Hill and Phillips.  The minivan driver had a facial laceration from the crash and received treatment from EMS after he was transported back to the scene of the accident on Lafayette Boulevard.  Clarence Wallace, 29, of Spotsylvania was arrested and charged with DUI, two felony counts of hit and run, eluding, obstruction of justice, and driving on a revoked license.  Wallace was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a $3500 bond.      


Arlene Salis, 71, of Locust Grove was arrested for DUID after causing an accident in the 1200 block of Carl D Silver Parkway.
