Daily Crime Report 11/22/2013

Recent police reports and arrests in Fredericksburg:

BURGLARY:

Populuxe, 107 William St, 11/21 1:35 p.m.  The business owners reported that when they arrived to open the store, they found the front door had been forced open.  The owners, a husband and wife, entered the building and encountered a male subject who walked out from the back section of the business.  The subject tried to leave but he was prevented from doing so by the husband while the wife called 911.  Officers arrived less than two minutes later and took the offender into custody without incident.  Walter Crosman, 21, of no fixed address was arrested for felony burglary and incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT:

1000 block Myrick St, 11/21 9:30 p.m.  Police responded to a report of a stabbing and found the 38-year-old victim with severe lacerations in his hand.  The victim reported that an unknown male subject walked up to him while he was outside on his porch and asked for a cigarette.  When the victim started to hand a cigarette to the unknown man, he was stabbed in the hand with a knife.  The assailant reportedly fled the scene on foot.  He was described as a black male in his 20s wearing dark colored jeans and hoodie with the hood pulled up.  The investigation is ongoing.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH/DUI:

1000 block Lafayette Blvd, 11/22 12:45 a.m.  Police, fire, and EMS responded for a report of a vehicle crashed into the porch of a house on Lafayette Boulevard.  A witness reported that he saw a small white car lose control as it went through the turn near Battlefield Restaurant.  The white car crashed into a parked SUV and then into the porch, knocking some of the supporting pillars free from the building.  The driver of the white car and his passenger were both transported to the hospital.  The driver, Waleed Al Yami, 22, of Spotsylvania was also charged with DUI, reckless driving, and driving without a license.  The resident of the house was home at the time of the crash but she was not injured.

LARCENY:

800 block Cobblestone Blvd, 11/20 – 11/21 7:40 a.m.  Six different residents reported that an unknown person stole items from their vehicles in the parking lot.  The investigation is ongoing.

Home Depot, 1201 Gateway Blvd, 11/21 12:30 p.m.  An employee reported that a male subject stole a coil of wire from the store in the city and attempted to return it for cash at the Home Depot in Spotsylvania.  The investigation is ongoing.

R&R Antiques, 1001 Caroline St, 11/8 – 11/21 3:00 p.m.  A vendor reported that an unknown person stole three paintings of George Washington from her booth.  No suspects or witnesses at this time. 

200 block Executive Center Pkwy, 11/16 – 11/21 5:15 p.m.  An employee reported that an unknown person stole a license plate from her vehicle.  No suspects or witnesses at this time.    

VANDALISM:

300 block Forest Village, 11/20 – 11/21 6:40 a.m.  A resident reported that an unknown person slashed two tires on her vehicle.  No suspects or witnesses at this time. 

ARRESTS:

Alyssa Neal, 19, of Spotsylvania was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

Brianna Aletras-Dunn, 19, of Stafford was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

Karen Spaulding, 47, of Fredericksburg was arrested for domestic assault and battery.

Jessie Minor, 28, of Fredericksburg was arrested on a warrant from Spotsylvania charging him with failure to appear in court.
