Daily Crime Report 10/17/2013

Recent police reports and arrests in Fredericksburg:

STRONG ARM ROBBERY:

Walmart, 1800 Carl D Silver Pkwy, 10/16 8:50 p.m.  Police responded to the parking lot of Walmart for the report of a robbery and found three men securing another male on the ground.  The victim, a 55-year-old city woman, reported that she was returning her cart to the storage area after unloading her purchases into her car when an unknown male approached her from behind and wrestled her purse out of her hands. 

The victim yelled for help and two men who were passing by chased the suspect across the lot and tackled him to the ground.  A third man also assisted in detaining the suspect until officers arrived.  The purse was returned to its owner. 

Benjamin Durand, 19, of Spotsylvania was arrested for strong arm robbery and multiple counts of larceny.  Durand was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.   

LARCENY:

Mary Washington Hospital, 1001 Sam Perry Blvd, 10/16 10:30 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.  A patient reported that an unknown person stole her wallet from her bag.  The wallet was later located but a quantity of cash was missing from it.  No suspects or witnesses at this time.   

Mary Washington Hospital, 1001 Sam Perry Blvd, 10/16 4:00 p.m.  An employee reported that she placed her purse and other items on the hood of a car next to hers in the parking garage and as she was preparing to go inside the building, the car with her purse on it drove away.  Security footage showed the driver of that car stopping outside the garage and placing the purse inside her vehicle before leaving the scene.  The investigation is ongoing.

Hard Times Café, 314 Jefferson Davis Hwy, 10/16 9:00 p.m. A patron reported that an unknown person stole his wallet from the table.  A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

VANDALISM:

2100 block Caroline St, 10/15 – 10/16 10:30 a.m.  A resident reported that an unknown person shattered the windshield on his vehicle.  No suspects or witnesses at this time.  

DUI ARRESTS:

Kelly Farnath, 20, of King George was arrested for DUI in the 1800 block of William Street.

ARRESTS:

Darrell Sibley, 30, of Fredericksburg was arrested on warrants from Prince William charging him with felony forgery and uttering.

Chong Seo, 46, of Fredericksburg was arrested for assault and battery.

Norris Wright, 27, of Spotsylvania was arrested for public intoxication.

Joseph Williams, 18, of Woodford was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

Walter Rodriguez, 20, of Waldorf, Maryland was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

Donald Webb, 55, of Spotsylvania was arrested for public intoxication.   

Phillip Reece, 21, of Bumpass was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

Jaron Allen, 19, of Fredericksburg was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Kristian Gumbs, 22, of Alexandria was arrested for possession of marijuana.
