Recent police reports and arrests in Fredericksburg:

DUID/NARCOTICS VIOLATION:

200 block Duke St, 2/7 12:20 a.m.  Detectives patrolling in the Mayfield area observed a vehicle being driven by a male subject who was known to be revoked from driving privileges due to a previous DUI offense.  The detectives followed the subject’s Pontiac Grand Prix as he left the neighborhood and drove onto the Blue Grey Parkway, continuing on to Plank Road westbound.

The driver swerved in the roadway multiple times and his speed was erratic.

An officer in a marked patrol car caught up with the Pontiac as it proceeded onto Interstate 95 northbound, but the driver refused to pull over.  The Pontiac exited I95 at Route 17 and drove back into the city over the Falmouth Bridge, continued on Route 1 southbound until he turned left at the Harrison Road intersection, and then from Harrison Road back into Mayfield via Lafayette Boulevard and Dixon Street.

During this circling of the city, the Pontiac’s driver struck a curb on two different occasions and flattened a front tire.   The driver finally made an abrupt turn from Airport Avenue onto Duke Street and abandoned the car in the front yard of a house in the 200 block of Duke.  The driver ran from the vehicle and jumped over a fence into a back yard, where officers surrounded him and ordered him to the ground.  He eventually complied and was taken into custody.  On the route the driver ran during the foot chase, a vial containing suspected PCP was found and seized for evidence.

Christopher Lewis, 32, of Spotsylvania was arrested for DUID, driving while revoked (DUI related), resisting arrest, felony eluding, leaving the scene of an accident, and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.  Lewis was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
