Police investigating explosion at home on Normandy Ave
At approximately 4 a.m. this morning, the Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported explosion inside a home in the 3100 block of Normandy Avenue. The occupant of the house, an adult female, was not injured and evacuated the home safely along with her dog. Fire personnel found smoke inside the house and damage to the interior of the single story residence.
The investigation has determined that a homemade incendiary device was placed or thrown inside the residence and subsequently detonated.
A bomb dog from the Virginia State Police responded to the crime scene and no additional devices were located.
A number of detectives and the Fire Marshal are currently on the scene collecting evidence and continuing the investigation.
