Recent police reports and arrests in Fredericksburg:
ASSAULT:
Canal Path, 10/11 12:15 a.m. A Stafford resident reported that he was walking on the path near Old Cossey Pond when he encountered two male subjects who were standing to the side of the walkway. The victim exchanged derogatory comments with the unknown subjects before the two men assaulted him by striking him repeatedly with their fists. After the assault, the victim continued walking home and was taken to the hospital by a friend. The assailants were described as both black males wearing dark clothing. One of the offenders was reportedly in his 30s and approximately six feet tall while the other was described as younger and a few inches shorter. The investigation is ongoing.
LARCENY:
1500 block Jefferson Davis Hwy, 10/ – 10/9 2:00 p.m. A resident reported that his grill and a patio chair were stolen from his back yard, and a power tool was also stolen from his shed. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
VANDALISM:
900 block Barton St, 10/9 6:00 p.m. – 10/10 9:00 a.m. The property owner reported that he found graffiti spray painted on the exterior of the unoccupied residence. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
DUI ARREST:
Christian Alvarez-Reyes, 33, of King George was arrested for DUI and refusal to submit to a blood or breath test in the 1800 block of Jefferson Davis Highway.
ARRESTS:
Renee Berryman, 24, of Fredericksburg was arrested for felony larceny with intent to distribute and felony shoplifting from Best Buy.
Eric Bowens, 22, of Martinsburg, West Virginia was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.
James Brown, 61, of no fixed address was arrested on a warrant from the U.S. Marshal Service charging him with probation violation.
David Ruffner, 37, of no fixed address was arrested for public intoxication.
