Suspect Arrested for Homicide
Just after 6:00 a.m. today, authorities with the U.S. Marshals Service and Immigration and Customs Enforcement served a search warrant at a residence in Marietta, Georgia and took Juan Antonio Zarco Melchor into custody for the murder of Armando Escobar. Escobar was found stabbed to death in his tent at a homeless camp in Fredericksburg on July 25.
Also known as Juan Zarco, and with a street name of “Michaocano”, the 43-year-old suspect was arrested in Georgia at the home of a relative. It is believed that he fled from Virginia immediately after the crime. Juan Zarco will be extradited back to Fredericksburg to face a charge of first-degree homicide.
It is still unclear what led to the stabbing of Armando Escobar. Anyone with information about this case should contact Detective Patrick Lamb at 540-654-5740.
