Howison Ave/McKinney St, 8/15 5:20 pm.  Two children who were riding a bicycle were injured when they were struck by a vehicle.  The two boys, a 15-year-old and his 4-year-old brother who live in the neighborhood, were on a bicycle together when they reportedly rode into the path of a car making the turn at the intersection.  The vehicle was operated by a male resident and it is estimated he was traveling at about 10 mph when the accident occurred.  The driver remained at the scene and provided assistance to the children.

Both children were transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.  Both suffered abrasions and bruising from the impact with the pavement, and the younger child had a facial injury believed to be caused when the car’s mirror struck him, but both are expected to make a full recovery.  Neither of the victims lost consciousness.

The driver was not charged in this incident.
