Attempted abduction reported in city this morning

A 22-year-old female who had just moved to Fredericksburg yesterday reported that she was the victim of an attempted abduction that occurred at approximately 8 a.m. this morning.  The victim was jogging on Westmont Drive near Highland Road in the neighborhood around Oak Hill cemetery when she was approached by a male in a vehicle who stopped and asked her a question.  The victim could not understand what the male was saying and she stepped next to the vehicle.  The suspect opened the passenger side door and grabbed the victim, partially pulling her inside the car.

The victim was able to get free and she ran from the scene.  She was not injured.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 50′s with a stocky build, short dark hair, and an unshaven face.  The victim stated that his fingernails were dirty and he had bad teeth; he also spoke limited and heavily accented english.  He was driving an older white car with four doors.  The suspect was last seen on Highland Road.

Anyone with information about this case should contact the Fredericksburg Police Department at 540-373-3122.
