Man arrested for sex offenses

Relax Inn, 1904 Princess Anne St, 4/21 – 4/22 8:00 pm.   On April 22, the King George County Sheriff’s Office notified the Fredericksburg Police Department of a sex offense that had occurred in the city involving a juvenile female.  The subsequent investigation revealed that a 13-year-old female had been picked up from her home in King George on April 21 and transported to the Relax Inn, where she spent the night with the 32-year-old suspect.  The victim told her parents she was spending the night with a friend, and the Sheriff’s Office was called when the parents discovered the truth after the victim returned home.

The victim met the suspect approximately one month ago through a mutual acquaintance, and the suspect and victim communicated by cell phone and text messages.

The suspect had already fled from the area when investigators responded to the Relax Inn on the evening of April 22, but information was received that he might be located in Smyth County, Virginia.   On April 24, deputies from the Smyth County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jaime Hernandez, 32, of Chilhowie on the following warrants obtained as a result of the investigation:  six felony charges of carnal knowledge of a child age 13-15, two felony charges of indecent liberties with a child, one felony charge of producing/distributing child pornography, and seven misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Hernandez is currently incarcerated at the Smyth County Jail pending transfer to the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
