UPDATE: Homicide suspect in custody
Update: 4:40 p.m. April 7
Just after 3 p.m. today, the suspect in the murder of Nathaniel Dywayne Henderson was taken into custody in the 1000 block of Wicklow Drive. Tyrone Tomek Johnson, 35, of Fredericksburg has been charged with first degree homicide and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Johnson will be incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Johnson and the victim were acquaintances, and the shooting reportedly occurred during a get-together of friends at the victim’s home on Brock Square. A dispute broke out between Johnson and Henderson just prior to the fatal shooting.
Throughout the afternoon, officers and detectives checked a number of locations that Johnson was known to frequent. Once found on Wicklow Drive, Johnson was arrested without incident.
The Fredericksburg Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours of April 7. Officers responded to the 300 block of Brock Square in the Central Park Townhomes around 3:30 a.m. The victim’s friend, who lives in the neighborhood, called 911 when he discovered the 28-year-old man lying bleeding and apparently deceased inside a townhouse. The victim had been shot in the head.
The victim has been identified as a resident of the home, Nathaniel Dywayne Henderson. No other occupants were found in the house when police arrived.
Detectives are currently conducting interviews and collecting evidence from the scene. There are no known suspects at this time.
