Suspect sought for armed robbery

A Stafford man is wanted for armed robbery and grand larceny after attacking a woman in the Fredericksburg Trailer Park in the 1500 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy this morning.  At 7:25 am, a 22- year-old female resident reported to police that she was outside preparing to leave in her car when she was assaulted from behind by a male subject whose face was concealed by a hood.

The suspect pressed an object into the victim’s back and demanded that she surrender her purse.  The victim struggled with the assailant and tried to hold on to her purse, but she was dragged across the ground 10-15 feet until the purse strap broke.  The suspect ran away with the victim’s purse in his hands, and the victim and other neighbors chased him through the area until the suspect fled from the scene in a small silver sedan.

Detectives subsequently identified the suspect as Douglas Robert Taylor, 24, of Petroleum Lane in Stafford County.  Warrants have been obtained charging Taylor with armed robbery and two counts of grand larceny.  Taylor is 6’5” and 195 pounds and was last seen wearing a black or gray hoodie and dark colored pants.  The suspect and the victim are acquaintances who recently met through mutual friends.  Taylor’s whereabouts are currently unknown.
