Fredericksburg Police recover stolen Baby Jesus

On Thursday evening, December 15, Fredericksburg Police detectives recovered  the figure of the Baby Jesus which had been stolen from the Central Park shopping center on Tuesday night.

A citizen provided vital information to police, which led to the identification of the primary suspect in the case.  The suspect, a 25 year old female from Spotsylvania County, had uploaded a picture of the stolen Christ child on her Facebook page, and the concerned citizen printed the image and the related comments before the Facebook post was removed.  The citizen immediately turned over this evidence to the Fredericksburg Police Department.  The subsequent investigation led to a home in Spotsylvania County, where the Baby Jesus was found.

The Baby Jesus was found unharmed.

Arrangements are being made today to return the Baby Jesus figure to Rappaport Companies at Central Park.

Charges are pending, and it is likely that at least one additional suspect was involved in this incident.  The investigation is ongoing.
