“Run with the Law” on October 22
On October 22 at 8:00am, local law enforcement officers will take to the streets with runners from around the area to participate in Run with the Law, a 5K race to benefit Special Olympics Virginia. The event is hosted by the University of Mary Washington and will be held at the new Anderson Center, located on campus at the corner of College Avenue and Jefferson Davis Highway (Rt1). There will also be a one-mile race called End the Word to support the campaign to end the use of the word “retard”.
Registration for the 5K is $25 prior to October 21 and $30 on race day. Registration for the one-miler is $15, with no cost to Special Olympics athletes, parents of children under the age of 8, or parents/guardians of athletes needing special assistance. Proceeds from the race will go toward Special Olympics Virginia. More information about the race and registration details can be found here, or contact Carrie Dyer at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (804)726-3023.
