Two Suspects Arrested for Sheetz robbery
Two juvenile suspects were arrested in Fredericksburg last night and charged with the armed robbery and carjacking that occurred at Sheetz, 2001 Carl D Silver Pkwy, on August 27. The two suspects are a 17-year-old male who lives at Riverside Manor Townhomes and a 15-year-old male from Spotsylvania County. The third suspect involved in the robbery is still at large.
The 17-year-old suspect has been charged with armed robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and armed carjacking.
The 15-year-old suspect has been charged with armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Both suspects are currently detained at the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center. The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office has filed its intent to proceed against both defendants as adults.
At 5:50 am on August 27, three masked suspects entered the Sheetz while two employees and a customer were inside. The suspects brandished weapons, ordered the employees and customer to the floor, and used pepper spray on the three female victims before stealing cash from the registers and the victims’ purses. The suspects also ransacked the office and stole cigarettes from behind the counter.
After leaving the store, one of the suspects forced a woman out of her vehicle in the parking lot and fled the scene, while the two other suspects ran on foot toward Riverside Manor. A Virginia State Police trooper located the stolen vehicle parked at Riverside Manor about an hour later.
None of the victims were injured during the robbery or carjacking.
