Woman reports attack on Route 1
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY:
400-500 block Jefferson Davis Hwy, 7/20 1:30 am. A homeless woman reported that she was walking northbound beside Route 1 when she was approached by two male subjects, one of whom grabbed her from behind and wrapped his arm around her neck. The victim thought that a knife was placed at her throat, although she did not see the weapon.
The assailant pulled at the victim’s backpack, causing several items to fall out onto the road; he then let her go and both suspects left the area on foot. The victim ran to the nearby 7-11 on Amaret St and called 911.
The suspects were described as Hispanic males in their 20’s. One was wearing jeans and a blue shirt with multi-colored stripes across the chest, the second suspect was wearing jeans and a gray shirt with a single blue stripe across the chest.
Several officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects. The victim was not injured. The investigation is ongoing.
