National Drug Take Back Initiative April 30
On Saturday, April 30 the Fredericksburg Police Department and the Fredericksburg Fire Department will assist the federal Drug Enforcement Administration with its National Take Back Initiative by providing safe and convenient drop-off sites for the proper disposal of prescription and non-prescription medications. From 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, local residents may bring their unused and/or outdated medications to these locations:
- Police Headquarters, 2200 Cowan Blvd
- Fire Station 1, 601 Princess Anne St
- Bragg Hill Family Life Center, 400 Bragg Hill Dr.
- Tomkins-Martin Medical Plaza (9am-noon only)
Members of the Police and Fire Departments and staff from Mary Washington Health Care will be available at the drop-off locations to ensure the appropriate disposal of drugs and medications. The proper disposal of unused medication is important! Medications that are flushed down the toilet or sent to local landfills can contaminate the environment, and a large percentage of juveniles who abuse prescription and non-prescription medications gain access to the drugs in their own homes or the homes of their friends.
This disposal service is free and anonymous. There will be no questions asked of any participants in this voluntary program.
