Police investigating damage to riparian lands

Richards Ferry Rd, Culpeper County, 3/20 8:00 am – 5:30 pm.  An officer responded to property along the Rappahannock River belonging to the City of Fredericksburg for a report of three subjects who had damaged the land with heavy equipment.  The reporting party is a Captain of the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office whose home is located close to the city’s protected watershed property.  The Captain stated that he witnessed a large loader being driven by a male subject down the road in front of his house, and the loader was followed by a white pickup truck occupied by two additional male subjects.  The Captain later followed the subjects down the road and found where they had used the loader to push over several trees that were located on posted city property and they had also mired the loader in mud while crossing a small stream.  The subjects have been identified and the investigation has been turned over to the city’s River Steward, Officer Lee Sillitoe.
