Reminder: Avoid Four Mile Fork area from noon to 5 today

Reminder: Drivers may want to avoid the area around Spotswood Baptist Church today from noon to 5 p.m. because of the funeral of longtime Spotsylvania County volunteer fire Chief Thomas Oesterheld.

Heavy traffic is expected around the church and along the procession, according to Spotsylvania County officials.

Anyone wishing to pay their roadside respects is asked to stage clear of the roadway paved surface and remain stationary until the entire procession has passed.

The funeral service begins at 1 p.m. at Spotswood Baptist Church, 4009 Lafayette Blvd.

The procession is expected to depart the church at 2 p.m.  en route to Craig’s Church located in the Payte’s area of Spotsylvania County.

Deputies and state troopers will be posted at intersections and no traffic movement will be permitted until the entire procession has passed.

  • Lafayette Blvd. crossing over Rt.1 at Four Mile Fork-
  • Courthouse Road – Lake Anna Parkway – Spotsylvania High School
  • Post Oak Road  - to Craig’s Church
