Fredericksburg officials are holding a reception on Tuesday for Jenny–Lynn Franklin Guth, the former resident who in May donated three parcels of land for a park to be named for her late mother, Butler–Brayne Thornton Robinson Franklin.

The three parcels total 28.12 acres and stretch from Fall Hill Avenue to the Rappahannock River.

Guth, who lives in Orange, Texas, donated the land that has been in the family’s possession since the early 18th century as part of the Fall Hill estate.

Butler–Brayne Franklin had four children. She died in 2003 at age 104 after a life of worldwide travel, activism for women’s rights and an appreciation for Fredericksburg history.

The reception is open to the public and begins at 5:30 p.m. in a second floor conference room of City Hall, 715 Princess Anne St.
