Update: Severe thunderstorm watch in addition to heat advisory
UPDATE: The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the region through 8 p.m. That’s in addition to the heat advisory issued earlier.
In case you missed it, or haven’t ventured outdoors yet, the city of Fredericksburg and the surrounding region are headed for a hot and humid day that could pose a health risk.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the region from noon to 7 p.m.
A heat index of 105 degrees is possible today, which creates the risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Stay indoors if you can. Wear loose fitting and light-colored clothing and drink plenty of water.

Immediately call 9-1-1 if you suspect heat stroke.
